Pet Food Recall List Revised Again

While class action lawsuits have been launched against some pet food manufacturers, the recall of pet foods has widened. Del Monte Foods Canada has recalled its Jerky Treats Beef Flavour Dog Snacks with a best before date of Aug. 16, 2008. You can get the full information by clicking here. Purina Canada is making it clear that its Canadian brands are safe, and any recall was only to products sold only in the United States. In its official news release, the company says : “Nestlé Purina PetCare Canada confirms that Purina® brand products available in Canada remain safe and can continue to be fed with confidence. Neither Mighty Dog® pouch nor Alpo® Prime Cuts products, voluntarily recalled in the United States market, are sold in Canada.” Menu Foods, which was the heart of the recall of food tainted with rat poison, has now expanded it’s recall to include dog biscuits made by Sunshine Mills Inc of Alabama it has also expanded the recall of the wet pet foods to include products made back as far as November. Although the products were not sold in Canada, it is possible Canadians travelling south of the border may have purchased some of the product.
