CN has been working on shoring up the bank  on the east side of the Fraser River, south of the Yellowhead bridge.

The Department of Fisheries  says CN contacted them about  the need to make the repairs because erosion of the bank  was posing  an imminent threat to the  integrity of the tracks.

In this case, CN  has placed interlocking block at the water level and  is installing rip rap to  try and secure the bank.

CN’s consultants worked with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans on  developing the best plan to have  the repairs  completed in time for the  2007 freshet, which is expected to be  higher than normal.
