Prince George RCMP's  investigation of an armed robbery has lead to the arrest of a 23 year old  Burns Lake man.

The hold up happened at the BCR Shell gas station  on April 4th.  In that robbery, two males, one armed with a firearm, entered the gas station and ordered the employee at gunpoint into the washroom where he was ordered to lay down on the floor.

The thieves got away with some cash and cigarettes.

The male in custody  was to appear in court today to face  a charge of robbery with the use of a firearm, as well as  some other outstanding warrants.

A robbery at a gas station? The tables have turned, eh? I wonder how they like being robbed. Gotta go now and gas up.
I hope that justice will be done and robbery with a firearm will be dealt with severely.

"Some other outstanding warrants?" Gee, did he run out of money on a day pass? Chester
In fairness, and depending on the crime, I believe most people deserve a chance the first time gone wrong. After all, it could be one of our kids who gets caught up in a bad choice while under the peer pressure of some colorful pals, but after all is said and done the kid goes it straight again and keeps it that way.

Too often, the ones who do not "get it" after being caught the first time, are given too many more chances. A First Offence can be light and lenient, but Strike Two should be a lot more severe, so that they get the message loud and clear. Then Strike Three should be "hey pal, yer out".

Stupidity should not be an excuse for lawlessness.
A first timer? Deserve a chance?

HeeHee! What about the outstanding warrants? You didn't actually say how many first times you talking about. Get the message.
I hardly think these rats are first timers.Deserve a chance? Peer pressure by some colorful pals? How out of touch with reality are you? If convicted this is what buddy boy should be facing:

Every person who commits robbery is guilty of an indictable offence and liable

(a) where a firearm is used in the commission of the offence, to imprisonment for life and to a minimum punishment of imprisonment for a term of four years; and

(b) in any other case, to imprisonment for life.

Deserve a second chance my a$$. What about the victim?
Whoa boys!! I am obviously aware these perps are not "first timers". My opinion, obnoxious as it may have seemed to you, was in defence of the "REAL" first timers. And if you re-read my post, it also expresses my opinion of what should happen to "second and third" offenders.

Troll, I am not that much out of touch with reality at all, I remain true to my statement that lots of kids end up under peer pressure and make a bad choice because they have inadvertently (means accidental) ended up with the wrong crowd. These kids need a break because they learn quick the first time. It is the jokers, like those above, who after the second or third time, should be slam dunked into forever jail land. Society does not need these "stupids" who are not capable of learning out and about doing bigger and badder things.

I repeat, Stupidity is not an excuse for lawlessness. The more they learn they can get away with it, the worse they will get. Personally, sometimes I think our system is a joke when people like this are allowed to roam free.

If he gets out on bail it will be too bad for the next person he chooses to be aggressive with, it will not be a question of "if", but "when".
I will also add, in my opinion, a crime committed with a weapon should be dealt with severely, first time. Crimes against children and old folks, same thing. Aggressive behaviour in groups, same thing. Some things do not deserve a second chance.

Where's Don M. ? He'd know what to do about this.
