Where Are All Those Who Said Selling BC Rail Was A Good Idea? One Man's Opinion

If the original plan was to get Basi and Virk to fall on the sword for the province, one gets the distinct feeling these two boys are not going to go without kicking and screaming. That kicking and screaming could result in a few highly placed individuals being right behind them.
It will take a full blown trial to see just what was taking place in the CN , BC rail deal, a deal that I have held all along stunk from the very beginning.
Think about it, we now have a large number of forest companies complaining that they are nearly being held up for ransom when it comes to booking cars for lumber hauling.
Now folks wasn’t it you who were saying it was such a good deal to take the railway out of the hands of BC rail and hand it over to CN?
Let’s do a quick calculation for those in the forest industry who think that it was a good deal to sell BC rail off.
We, (the province) owed about $500 million dollars. That just happens to be about the profit of the railway in two years. So we would now have a railway debt free unless of course the government grabbed the cash out of the drawer (as government's had done in the past) making about $250 million a year.
Now according to basic thinking that would be a good deal for the people of the province. The province actually could have bought more cars and engines, fixed more tracks and still given the province $150 million a year to spend as they please.
That takes you back to the very first question, just what was in it for the people who run this province , was the railway sold in the ,”interest” of the people?
I’m Meisner and that’s one man’s opinion.
