City of Prince George Releases Flood Advisory

The City of Prince George has released a  notice about the rising waters of the Fraser River:

"The City of Prince George continues to monitor the rising river levels. Information from the River Forecast Center, Ministry of the Environment indicates that the recent rainfall in the upper Fraser River area may increase river levels over the next few days.

The current level for the Fraser River at South Fort George is 7.1 meters and the River Forecast Center anticipates that the river levels could reach 8 meters by Thursday, May 9th. River flooding potential in Prince George is reached when the river levels reach 9.1 meters.

Changes in weather conditions can affect river levels, as a result the City of Prince George is distributing flood preparation information to flood prone areas. Information on the threat of flooding will be updated as the River Forecast Center continues to monitor the situation.

The public is advised to use caution around waterways and flood affected areas. "
