Motorists travelling between Prince George and Quesnel experienced minor delays this morning following a single vehicle accident on Highway 97.

The tractor-trailer unit was heading southbound when it left the route and landed on its side in the ditch approximately two-kilometres north of the Cottonwood River Bridge.

No word on any injuries at this point.

Highway crews and a crane were on-site working to right the truck.

Was there a curve in the road?call the MOH immediately!!!was the speed limit being observed?or was he driving too fast, talking on the phone and drinking timmies?
Could have been worse. Hope everybody is OK.
Well if you look at the picture, it is fairly plain that it was a fatality. They covered it with a tarp, usually means someone did not make it.
I feel for the family.
It has been a while since I have travelled the Cottonwood River Bridge area but I always thought it was a dangerous section of the highway.
I hope it is not a fatality.
Some fifteen years ago I almost bit the bullet about the same area....I was driving to fast for the road conditions and put it into a LARGE rock wall face. Luckily the car took the brunt of it.
Hmmmm...another trucker? Seems you see more of those involved in an accident than a few years back when they knew how to drive.
Is that some left overs from a load of logs just in front of the semi? From a previous mishap in this very spot? I just don't understand why people can't drive in a safe and conscientous manner, for the good of ALL.

I think they covered it with a tarp to cover the company name. This is common with larger outfits. The truck looks like it sustained very little damage. I can tell you from experience that the cab of a big truck is about the safest place to be.

This accident is what they call a "single-vehicle, off-road right". If the angle of entry is less than 15 degrees (that number could be out by a few), it means the vehicle entered gradually, as if the driver was falling asleep or not looking.

The driver is likely OK, unless they had a medical condition that caused the situation.
