Fort Nelson School Employee Arrested For Child Porn
By 250 News
Members of the RCMP’s Integrated Child Exploitation Team assisted officers from the detachment in Fort Nelson in arresting a 44-year-old man in the small northern community yesterday.
In a news release issued today, Constable Annie Linteau says the arrest came as a result of an ongoing investigation, subsequent to information that the suspect had allegedly been accessing and had been in possession of child pornography.
The male suspect has since been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on June 11th on related charges.
In a letter sent home from schools in Fort Nelson yesterday, District #81 Chair, Andy Karassowitsch writes,
"We have been advised that one of our employees is under investigation for internet-facilitated child exploitation.
School District #81 is working closely with the RCMP in their investigation. The employee is not at school and will be on administrative leave until the Board of Education decides otherwise.
There is nothing to suggest that any of our children are involved."
The letter goes on to say:
"We reiterate that at this time there have been no allegations involving children in our school district."
