Construction is about to start on a 1200 square foot addition to the Stuart Lake Hospital in Ft.  St James .   The addition will house 6 new  residential care beds for seniors needing  24 hour care.

Work on the foundation for the $200,000 expansion will get underway as soon as road restrictions are lifted in the Fort St. James area. Mass Construction Ltd. of Quesnel will build the foundation, which should take about four weeks to complete.

The second phase will see modular units erected on the foundation, along with further renovations in the existing hospital.

The new beds are due to be open late in the fall.
