The preparation for next hockey season continues for the Prince George Cougars. Brent Arsenault will return as part-time assistant coach for the Western Hockey League club. Arsenault, the principal at St. Mary’s Catholic School in Prince George, is a former Spruce Kings head coach.

“Brent was an integral part to our success last season and helped us out in many ways,” said Cougars general manager Dallas Thompson.

In other news, the Cougars hired Chris Linder of West Vancouver, a graduate of Concordia University in Montreal, as the team’s new athletic trainer and equipment manager.

Former Prince George resident Dan De Palma, the Cougars Kamloops and area scout, will also serve as the team’s goaltending coach.

“Dan is a great communicator who will have a noteworthy impact on our goalies. With Dan’s proximity to our away games, he will be able to be in contact with, and watch, our goalies on a regular basis. Dan will also be making frequent trips to Prince George to work with our goaltenders throughout the season", said Thompson.

The Cougars expect to announce the hiring of an assistant coach in the near future. Earlier this week Drew Schoneck was awarded with a new two year contract as head coach of the Cougars.
