By 250 Sports
Prince George Cougars Dana Tyrell and Ty Wishart are 2 of 26 junior aged players selected to represent Canada in the Canada/Russia Super Series. The eight-game series from August 27-September 9 will feature the best under-20 aged players from Canada and Russia. The first half of the series is in Russia with the final four games in Western Canadian cities. (Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Red Deer and Vancouver)
Tyrell, who is projected to be drafted in the first round of this weekend’s NHL entry draft, finished second in Cougars scoring with 30 goals and 26 assists during the WHL regular season. He became only the second Cougar in franchise history to net 30 goals as a 17 year-old.
Wishart collected 49 points in 62 regular season games on the Cougars blueline.
Canada's 26-player roster will gather in Toronto on August 20th before traveling to Russia for the first four games, which begin on August 27th, and then returning to their club teams and/or NHL training camps upon conclusion of the final game of the series on September 9th. The Canada/Russia Super Series will also serve to evaluate and develop Canada's National Junior Team for the 2008 IIHF World Junior Championship.
