Prince George Cougars confirmed the hiring of Wade Klippenstein as the team’s full-time Assistant Coach and Assistant General Manager.

Klippenstein served as the Assistant Coach with the University of Alaska Fairbanks for the past 3 years. Prior to rejoining his alma mater’s program, Wade spent time in the WHL as Head Coach of the Prince Albert Raiders, and as an Assistant Coach with the Raiders and Saskatoon Blades.

"I am excited at the opportunity to get back into the WHL. I have a lot of respect for the individuals in the Cougars organization. I am eager to get on the ice and start working", said the newly appointed Klippenstein.

A native of Dauphin Manitoba, Klippenstein sits 5th overall in career scoring at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. He was drafted by the Quebec Nordiques in his freshman year of college, and later signed a professional contract with the club.

"We are extremely happy to acquire a coach of Wade’s calibre. As a result of being a head coach, he knows what it takes to succeed and play hard. He will immediately gain the respect and trust in our locker room", said Cougars Head Coach Drew Schoneck.
