Teen Charged in Wake of Chase

An 18  year old male from Edmonton will appear in court this afternoon  to face several charges connected to an early morning  police chase.

Prince George RCMP say  there was a short pursuit  just before six this morning, that ended in a single vehicle crash.  Police say they had tried to stop a stolen vehilce that had been travelling northbound on highway 97.  The driver lost control a short  time later, crashing the vehicle into the ditch.  No one hurt.

The vehicle had been reported stolen from Fort St. James, the lone occupant/driver  also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.

The 18 year old will be in adult court this afternoon to face a charge of operating a motor vehicle in order to evade police,  operating a motor vehicle in a manner dangerous to the public, and possession of stolen property not in excess of $5,000.

I guess it was an old car under $5000 dollars?
It seems they always go for the lesser charge just to get a conviction.
Then they get nothing anyway!
