Another  job creation program has been funded.

This is the  third year of a program  to remove beetle kill trees in the Prince George  area.

The Federal Government is kicking in $149 thousand   to go with the City’s contribution of $250 thousand dollars in a project that will create 17 jobs and  reduce the risk of fires  from the  dead stands of  pine beetle killed trees.  That is the  prime difference between this program and two similar projects that have operated in the past.

This project will  focus on the removal of fire fuel trees and the clean up of debris from residential properties.

"Its a win win all way around" says Prince George - Peace River  M.P. Jay Hill who says this project helps the community and helps the unemployed.

The project is already underway  having started on the 16th of July, and  runs through  to the end of June next year.  Training starts August 8th. During the  length of the project ,  100 residences and 30 parks will be treated.

Residents wanting to  be part of this program may have a little longer to wait than has been the past experience as residential clean up is the second  priority . Residents  interested in the service are asked to call IFS at 564 - 4115
