The corner of Third Avenue and George Street in Prince George has a new look right now, as crews demolish the building that used to be occupied by Java Mugga Mocha, and B & B Music.

The building was destroyed by fire  a year ago.

The company doing the demolition is salvaging some of the main beams that were used in the construction of the building which has been the anchor of that corner for half a century.

There are no immediate plans for the property.

Maybe someone could "borrow" the project sign from the north-west corner of 7th and Victoria for a year or two and place it on that property instead.

Rick's could do the same for their empty property.

And the one next to Franco's could also put up a pretty "proposed" building priject sign, maybe even for a 5 storey building.

That will really impress the tourists as they wander around that part of town seeing all the contruction projects about to start.

;-)
It is a start. Lots more properties down town should be flattened. Too many bums and vandals hanging around the area. The city properties like the empty Bamboo Restaurant and the CJCI building, both owned by the city, should be demolished. Lots of bums using those buildings for their own front porch to perch on. Looks like a line up of garbage birds waiting for something to pounce on. Meanwhile they squawk and fight amoungst themselves or go strutting around the refuse pit we call downtown.
Same type of "bums" using the alcoves in new buildings in downtown Kelowna to perch in.

In Vancouver they sit on the street curb in front of high traffic areas .....

Buildings may come and go, but the so called bums don't. It is just the terms which we use to refer to them which changes over time.

I've been a resident of Prince George for over 35 years and I did not know that CJCI had a building in downtown PG. They used to be in the penthouse on top of the Inn of the North and then moved to 3rd ave next to Dairy Queen. Could it be that Yama doesn't know one radio station from another? I think he is referring to CKPG. Sorry, couldn't resist.
