This week, the National Parole Board will consider  parole for  former Judge David William Ramay who has been serving time in a New Brunswick  prison  for his involvement with  young prostitutes.

About 50 people have gathered  outside the  Courthouse in downtown Prince George to protest that  parole review.

Ramsay was sentenced to 7 years in prison after pleading guilty to charges  including sexual assault causing bodily harm, and obtaining sexual services from someone under age 18.  The victims were aged 12 - 16 at the time of the assualts which took place while Ramsay, was serving as a provincial court judge in Prince George in the mid-1990s.

Initially  Ramsay had planned on   making a presentation to a public parole hearing, then waived that right when news of his plans became public.  The National Parole  Board will now review his eligibility privately, Ramsay will not make a presentation.

A decision on his parole is expected by the end of the week.

Let him out! Put him on the corner of 5th and George at a pre-announced date and time, and then don't look back. We'll take care of justice for Justice Ramsay.
My heart goes out to these victims.

This preditor has a very good understanding of how to avoid having to face his crimes and his victims. What a disgusting coward! His sentence was a joke in the first place and now they make a joke out of "victim rights".

Thank goodness for groups like Carrier Sekani Family Services and Communities Against Sexual Exploitation of Youth that are working on behalf of those whose voices get lost. Prince George residents should look at the age of these girls on our streets and really think hard about who is using and abusing these children - your neighbour, your relative? When did it become okay for us to drive by these children and not see them? Time for us to stop being blind - if there wasn't a demand there wouldn't be a supply. Time to post the faces of men who are charged with prostitution related offences and shame them in public. Time to support these groups who work to get these children and women off the street.
