Funding for Two Infrastructure Projects
By 250 News
The federal and provincial governments are investing nearly $1.6 million dollars from the Canada-BC mUnicipal Rural Infrastructure Fund for two projects in communities south of Prince George.
In Alexis Creek, $1.1 million will be spent to improve access to safe, clean drinking water. The grant will allow the Cariboo Regional District to create a unified drinking
water system for Alexis Creek. The project involves the installation of a distribution main, a pressure system, controls, and development of a new well. This project is conditionally approved pending the successful completion of an environmental assessment.
The other project is in Williams Lake where the two levels of government are sharing $483,330 towards improvements to Williams Lake's stormwater system.
The funding will allow the City of Williams Lake to upgrade its storm- water system to ensure that storm water is directed to an infiltration and retention basin for treatment. Like the Alexis Creek project, this one is also "conditionally approved" pending the successful completion of an environmental assessment.
