"That is for overtime costs, and  dyking efforts" says   Bates.

The  deadline for submissions for  compensations was  September 11th for most communities and their respective residents.  The deadline was to be extended for the  people of Vanderhoof  as that situation  only started to ease in mid-August.

gabion dyke? For minite there I thought we were talking about a parade again!

How did the dyke come apart, can it be reused?
They just lifted it up in the air and left all the dirt sitting on the side of the road. They then graded the dirt into the water on the North side of the road and created a huge mud hole. I see by some car/truck tire marks that some people got stuck in the mud.

This area of River Road has been flooding for years and years. Usually the City just leaves it and lets people drive through the water, or detour through the mill yards. However this time they chose to use the Gabion Dike, and now of course are trying to get their money back from the Province.

After seeing this area flood every year more or less for the past 25 years one would think that they would have taken some action to prevent it from happening. Not bloodly likely, however give them a chance to chase another level of Government for money and they are off like a pack of baying hounds.
