It’s beginning to look as if Stephen Harper can’t lose the next election because no one else can win.

The Liberal Party is in tatters trying ever imaginable stratagem to avoid bringing the government down. It’s hard to believe that the Liberals, the Natural Governing Party, are in so much trouble. The leader, Stephane Dion wanders about in a daze while his colleagues talk about loyalty to their leader while not all that secretly plotting his downfall.

There is, however, a ray of hope. Ontario has 108 MPs and the provincial Liberals just won big. The federal and provincial constituencies mirror one another and there is no doubt that the Tories bombed.

That ray of hope is a dim one because the election was really fought on one issue – funding for parochial schools as stupidly raised by Conservative leader John Tory. Ontarians vote as we all do, for our own betterment, but they also have a hard look at Quebec and give a lot of political marks to the party that looks as if they can win there. While the Tories are a hell of a long way from blitzing Quebec so are the Liberals whose leader is unpopular in his home province. The NDP are only a factor if there’s a hung parliament and not even then if the Bloc does well.

It all proves the proposition that while governments usually fall rather than oppositions taking over, the opposition must resemble a government in waiting. Unfortunately for them, the Liberals look more like a party in the making, rather than a potential government.

Bet the ranch on another minority Conservative government.

Sad but true. Holding an election would be a waste of time and money.
If you bet the Ranch you would lose it Rafe.

You are making the assumption that voters make intelligent decisions, based on facts, that they research to help them.

If voters were smart, then why do Politicians kiss babies, do photo ops, and make outlandish statements rarely if ever backed up with facts. Its because they know that most voters do not follow issues and can be swayed in either direction with a little bit of good old fashioned propaganda.

Harper is starting to come across as the only politician that has any real concern about this Country or its Citizens. He is only a **whisk** away from breaking through to becoming one of the better Prime Ministers that this Country has ever had. Once he is accepted as a concerned, family man. (Which he is) Then people will re-elect him with a majority Government.
Human nature dictates that if the airbags in government throw out a few freebee's before an election, voters have very short memories indeed.
We should be able to understand that by the number of people we elect that actually do squat except spout off.
Then we RE-elect them next time!
Duh!
We really are slow learners!
