It could be Friday before the streets in Prince George have been cleared from the latest snowfall.

City crews have been  working ‘round the clock, and  clearing  roads  in the order of priority, downtown, main collector roads, then light industrial and residential.

The City has had to rent some graders and loaders to help them with the work.

The City has already spent about $3 million of the $4,022,736 dollar snow removal reserve.

shake your head people 3 million and they havent even touched the residential areas yet! main roads and downtown 3 and 4 times, do they pay more taxes.
i think the snow clearing has been good this year. better than before i feel.

"shake your head people 3 million and they havent even touched the residential areas yet! main roads and downtown 3 and 4 times, do they pay more taxes."

-If they focused their resources more on the residences and neglected downtown then people would bitch that the downtown is not cleared good enough.
I don't think you fully understand how the budget works for the snow removal. It begins Jan 1 and runs to Dec 31st 2007. This budget was used last winter( 24 days of heavy snow Jan and Feb). I think they have done a great job and will finish close to the allowable budget!
3 million for Januar to beginning of December is not bad. 1 million left to spend for December.
correct!
Ahhhaaa !!!.... so that's why they are holding off on my street... they already know it will cost about a $million to remove the snow from there... neat!

Thanks for clearing that up !!

Snowtimes... :-)

I think the city does an awesome job too at clearing the streets. I've lived in other cities that do not do as good a job as they do here. 3 cheers to the city workers !!!
How anyone can refer to the Citys Snow Removal as being awesome is beyond me. My residential area hasnt seen, nor heard a snowplow since it started snowing.

There was a time when all the town would have been completed by now, however with the stupid planning that takes place in this City you are now faced with fewer people but a much larger area to clear. Wait until they start plowing Tyner, UNBC, and Fraser River Bench. You will be lucky to get plowed twice a year.
