By 250 News
The Forest Safety Council is going to focus primarily on completing its major prgrams and building and sustaining the development of a province-wide safety infrastructure.
It will however, undertake three significant initiatives:
They include:
- Adding the Wood Products Manufacturing Sector to the Council
- Forest Worker Wellness
- Improving Incident Reporting and Investigation
The Forest Safety Council says it is taking some pride in the improved safety results that they are starting to see. Fewer injuries, fewer fatalities and reduced costs. The Council says while the Council is starting to trend in the right direction, "We still have a long way to go."
The Industry faces challenges for the upcoming year in many areas including safety. By maintaining our focus and by building on our successes, Industry will make the safety of our workers and worksites a priority and characteristic of the dynamic, diverse and safe forestry industry of the future.

It is assumed that the wail of sirens is less troublesome than the Jake Brake. Those loaded logging truck coming in from the west will have to use axle brakes only. If they still have any brakes left when they get to the base of Peden Hill, well they can go back for another load and try it again. At least the last traffic light is close to the graveyard.
The new Jake Brakes are so quiet the complainers can't tell it is being used, so it must be some city councilor's political will (and amazing ability) that is driving this latest piece of irritation.
