Although I don't know if it was the case in this instance, I do know that people parking in front of businesses so they can 'run in' creates a hazard for customers and drivers.

My mother was hit today by a woman who had parked in the no parking zone at Walmart. You couldn't walk down the sidewalk because of the way the large truck was parked so we were walking alongside the vehicle - in order to avoid the cars passing, we had to walk very close to the parked truck. The driver opened her door and hit my mother, giving her a bruise on her neck and arm and covering her in slush. It is frustrating that stores and the city don't do more to stop people from parking in front of stores that have fire lanes. I wish that she had opened the door and hit the cart, perhaps she would have learned a lesson via the dent in her new vehicle.
Poorly designed store frontages. Especially in this non-bus town. No place for taxis to safely wait fer fares at Stupidstore, Pine Centre, and especially Spruceland where a taxi at Save On can cramp every ones style while loading groceries. Just put it down to the fact that most if not all , including the Bank of Montreal sites, were conceived,, planned and architecturally created on the back of a napkin while at Denny's. Go figure.
Pedestrians need to be more careful also. Not talking about the walmart incident mentioned above as you had no choice but to walk where you did but the point i'm trying to make is pedestrians walking out from inbetween parked cars to get to the store without looking both ways. Happens all the time at the Hart. Like they own the parking lot and expect everyone to see them and stop. Hope I keep seeing them.
