Prince George, B.C. –  Crews working on  flood mitigation are now  hauling more clean fill into the River Road area to  extend  a section that had been built up  before, and to make  that section higher.

The stretch of road is in the Foley Crescent area, and had already been built up by about 4 feet, however, the Nechako spilled its banks on Saturday and water crossed that section.  The crews will make the built up section a hundred meters longer and about 2 feet (approx 2/3 metre) higher.

Ice jam expert Paul Doyle has arrived in Prince George, and has taken a helicopter tour of the area.  He will be making a presentation to Prince George City Council this evening.

WHEN ARE WE GOING TO STOP PAYING EXPERTS AND START PAYING A COMMONSENSE CONTRACTOR TO GET THE JOB DONE. THEY COULD GET IT DONE IF THEY WERN'T HOG TIED BY OUR BUREAUCRATIC SYSTEM.
Well said giterdun! We think we are electing people that promise to "geterdun". We think we are electing reasonably smart people. How much of our tax dollars go towards these useless studies that are never implemented? Burearcrats are strangling our whole system. This has to stop! The contractors know what is needed. Let's consult them and let them do it!
Sounds like the health system! Get all the experts in(like the ice jam experts who haven't seen a real ice jam before, our experts haven't seen the inside of an operating room,EVER). And yet their solutions are accepted as though they come straight from God!
