Hey, no raspberry awards? Sniff..

What a joke.
they certainly have all the bases covered....
what exactly did these people do...turn there cars off while they sat in line at Tim Hortons?
I wonder who the nominees were and what the criteria were. There appear to be people on there who are working at the opposite ends of the pollution spectrum.

Whatever happend with culling the list a bit first? Time to raise the bar, folks. No wonder we are in so much trouble with air quality in this city!!!!
Since I was not familiar with Green Goat I had to go to the web site ot find out waht kind of a product it is:

It says:"The patented Green GoatŪ design, compared to standard diesel switchers - diesel electric and diesel hydraulic is cheaper to purchase, cheaper to run, cheaper to maintain, and produces considerably less pollutants."

I mean, if this is true, does it get any better?

Quebec, eh? .... Them and Bombardier all in the same "have-not" province? Good for them!! So I am assuming CN is using one in the yard .... or how many? ... and why would CN not get an award then? There are tons of Canadian manufacturers of "green" products that keep the air clean.

So, that is a no-brainer for the industry part. Without them in there, the award should have been scrapped for this year in that category.

My vote is for Kathleen Haines in the first group, Gordon Hoekstra in the second. Those are no-brainers.

The third one I would maybe just squeak Mark Fercho by over the bar I have set for my selection.

The thing is, with the things being so bad here, there is not much to work with.

I think they should give an award to the citizens of PG who are acting as guinea pigs .....

;-)
Actually I meant "nominators" in the first post I made.

:-(
Any information that I have recieved from Mark Fercho sounded more like from a spin doctor which he is good at. He dosent get my vote.

The way he worked the removal of pine from city parks was a disaster.

Cheers
I thought you might vote for yourself...
Will this award thingy be on any of them "Entertainment" shows on TV I seen? Red carpet at city hall at -30c? Maybe Ben Mulroney could hand out the awards. That would be cool.
Owl. Railpower (P)on TSX is located in Vancouver and makes these **green goat locomotives**

As far as I know a number of them have been sold to the Union Pacific Railway, and possibly the Burlington Northern, in the USA, however havent heard that CN Rail or BC Rail have purchased any yet.
Given that we have the honour of being handed an F Grade for air quality I think this initiative is a good effort to recognize those few who may be starting to take a leadership role. [http://www.cbc.ca/health/story/2008/01/28/heart-stroke-report-card.html]

I will be interested in seeing why some names have made it to the list since I follow this stuff closely and am at a loss - do we get awards for doing our job? Hopefully this positive approach from PACHA will be a good beginning to seeing others want to take the glory!
Palopu .... so then I wonder why they would allow them to be nominated? very strange ....
Bridge, you could be right .... I was thinking in the case of the Asphalt plant situation. Kathleen Haines would be better to determine whether he was helpful or not.
Good luck, Ben. But I think Gord has this one in the bag. See you at the awards luncheon.
'Prince George Clean Air Awards'? The joke and the punch-line in the same sentence!
Jo Graber has been very vocal on this issue for as long as I can remember. I am puzzled by how they did come up with that list.
