Prince George, B.C. -  We're in a coldsnap and it has nothing to do with the winter musical festival underway...

The current temperature at the Prince George Airport is minus-31 and Environment Canada is continuing a windchill warning issued yesterday due to gusting wind.

The five-day forecast is calling for sunshine today, but it will be tempered with a high of just minus-26, and the temperature will drop down to minus-30 overnight.

On Tuesday, the day will be mainly cloudy and cold with a high of minus-24 and low of minus-30.  The forecast is much the same for Wednesday, a little bit warmer during the day with minus-22 and sunshine, but back down to minus-31 overnight.

It will warm slightly on Thursday, with the high expected to reach minus-13 and an overnight low of -23.  Some snow expected during the day.

Friday, a high of minus-8 and low to minus-15.

The forecast is much the same for across the region, with communities in the northwest, like Smithers, set to see a bit warmer temperatures.  Currently, it's minus-31 in Vanderhoof, minus-25 in Smithers, Quesnel sits at minus-28 and it's minus-29 in Williams Lake.

We are going to be minus an amphibex at this temperature also.
Yeah, so does anybody know what will be happening? I heard that their contract ends today. I can see that the river is not flowing yet, will they extend the Amphibex contract?

27 and 83 eh??????

had a few tequilas already ....???

I had to put on the big down coat and go for a walk. I don't know what it is like in the ol' smog hole, but it is just awesome up here. Lots of sunlight and blue sky. Reminds me of the arctic in the spring when it warms up to -30c. Beautiful.
I will be dead before global warming/climate change makes an appearance up here. Drat!! Oh yeah, and Brrrrr.
Yes...we all could use a bit of global warming just about now!
Aaawww poor polar bears! Spring would sure be nice though.

:)
I love this weather. We really only get it for a couple of weeks each winter so we should enjoy it while it lasts.

IMO put on an extra layer if it bothers you that much. I love the scenery in the North when its cold out like today with the sun out and can't get enough of it.

IMO the tourists all miss out on the real North by not doing their tours at this time of year. It was minus 37 in Vanderhoof today the coldest place I saw....
Yeah. Now there is a tourist attaction: Get your wazoo frozen in PG. I can imagine the travel agents working overtime on this one.
+4 here in Nanaimo. I rode my bike to the mall today.
