The majority of residents requiring emergency care services within the Northern Health Authority rate their quality of care as good to excellent, overall.

That’s according to a province-wide survey released by the B.C. Liberal government.  In fact, the results for Northern Health’s region mirror the B.C. rating, with 85-percent of respondents saying the care they received was either good, very good or excellent.

"British Columbians continue to be satisfied with emergency room care - due in large part to the hard work of our health-care professionals every day," says Health Minister George Abbott. "I’m encouraged that our results are on par with others across Canada and that, while we know there are always areas for improvement, most of the patients surveyed provided a positive response."

The latest survey is the second to measure patient satisfaction with emergency care. The first was conducted in 2003. The Ministry says patient feedback from this survey will be used as a benchmark of progress as the health authorities move to ongoing evaluations and reporting.

The ER survey report, Patient Experiences with Emergency Departments in B.C., and related information is available at www.health.gov.bc.ca/socsec/surveys.html.

It's bit hard to get excited about the results of a survey that comes from George Abbott and the B.C.Government.
What would they have told us if the survey said people were NOT satisfied?
Abbott is a numbers cruncher, and is not there to improve healthcare. He is there to save money wherever he can,and he does.
He needs to be gone!
