Prince George, B.C. -  Although it's a cartoon, there is some truth to the  images which suggests a reluctance to claim a lottery prize.  With  new  regulations aimed at  eliminating  cheaters,  the process  for claiming  a prize can make  a winner feel like a criminal.

Prince George resident Bill  Vanderlans has been advised his  cheque for a thousand dollars, won on the January 23rd "Extra", will now  be "in the mail".  That  didn't come without some effort.

Vanderlans bought the  ticket at the Mr.G's on West Austin Road,   and when he realized he was a winner of a thousand dollar prize,  tried to collect  his winnings. Only to be told that  because his wife works at  a store which sells tickets,  there would need to be an investigation.  Mr. Vanderlans'  wife  does not work  at the  place where he bought or varified the  ticket.

Since  January 30th, there have been phone calls,  faxed documents, and finally,  Mr. Vanderlans had to sign  a copy of the statement  given to a  BCLC  investigator and fax the  5 page document back to the investigator's office.

A public relations person  for BCLC, Robin Cook, says  the investigation is complete "There  is nothing in this file that would  indicate the  money should be  held back, so  the cheque for Mr. Vanderlans  will be mailed."

Maybe "Grants law"' is going to be the coming norm when something you want has to be done. Under that law, everyone is going to be assumed that thery are a potential thief and or killer. First the gas, now lottery sales. I wonder what is next? Save On foods where you can pay for your groceries BEFORE they will issue you a shopping cart? Could happen.
big deal....so he has to jump through some hops... at least he has a $1000.00...sweet
Well... yeah... but "hops" are very difficult to jump through... even after they have been picked... slept in a hop field just outside of Kamloops one night... but that's another story... his Dad still hates me !!

Goodtimes !!

If there weren't so many dishonest people out there, this would never be an issue. But, let's face it, not everyone can resist the temptation to circumvent the rules.

My father-in-law always told me, "Don't leave lettuce with the rabbits". Chester
I knew he would get his money just some questions to answer and voila. Like I said: I went through the same thing 3 yrs ago. No problemo.
