Prince George, B.C. – A fire on Tiechman Crescent in the Hart Highlands this afternoon has left a house gutted.

The residents were on their way to Vancouver to catch a flight to Cuba for a winter holiday.

Neighbours noticed the smoke billowing from the home around 12:30 this afternoon. Knowing the residents were out of town, one neighbour went to the house and kicked in the side door to the garage and pulled the family’s car and motorcycle to safety.

Fire department personnel from three fire halls rsponded to the blaze. One fire fighter  was treated on the scene after getting some debris in one eye.  He was  then able to return to duty.

The second floor of the home has been destroyed. The damage is estimated  to be around $200 thousand dollars.  It is not yet known  what caused the fire.

Looks like a lovely home. What a good neighbour.
Wow risked his life for vehicles??? So glad he didn't get hurt.
As a friend and neighbour of someone who ran over in disbelief and shock to see our friends home burning I would like to suggest that the neighbour described in the article acted quickly-doing only what most of us were doing-anything we could to help our friends.
Why would'nt you: assess the risk, and then save what you can, keep looking at that garage ceiling and the wall above the outside door though, they will show before they burn through and fall.
metalman.
A big pat on the back for the good neighbor.
