The BC Teachers Federation will be in B.C. Supreme Court today to find out the repercussions for violating the Labour relations Board, and disobeying the Supreme Court which upheld the LRB's order for the teachers to stay on the job.
It is expected the fines will be hefty, as there are some estimates the Teachers Federation is paying upwards of $2 million dollars a day in strike pay.
Other developments:
The Labour Relations Board has dismissed a BC Teachers Federation application for reconsideration.
This means an appeal will not be heard into last week's LRB ruling deeming the walkout illegal
The City of Prince George is sending out a reminder that all community programs operated in School District 57's facilities are cancelled. So the aerobics class, or art class, or special interest program you may have signed up for through Leisure Services, will be cancelled until the teachers job action is over.
Education Minister Shirley Bond stirred the pot by saying the government will do whatever it can to protect those teachers who want to cross the picket line and return to work, but School District 57 doesn't seem to think any schools would be reopened any time soon as its latest message on its website says no school for the rest of the week.
Teacher Federation President Jinny Simms says "The minister here is using some very inflammatory language, she claims that she has all these teachers who are phoning her. Well when I visit picket lines and the report backs we're getting from our picket lines that our members are strong, they're united, they're collected."

It was the BCTF that walked away from the table. And now they are saying that they have been barganing for 16 months. I believe that their plan has always been to push this right to the limit, and that is why they refused to bargan.
The BCTF is providing a huge disservice to the teachers and they are falling for it.
