Prince George, B,C. - Anyone who witnessed the first quarter of the soccer showcase today at CN centre would have never guessed that this game would end in a 14-7 victory for PGFC. The Drillers would make the score 5-0 in only the first thirteen minutes of the game. Sipho Sibiya scored a three point goal early into the second quarter which would inspire a scoring frenzy and eventually turn the game around. The 14-7 victory gives each of the teams a win in the series and was decided in a post game shootout with Edmonton winning.
Sipho Sibiya, Player / Coach is very happy with the showcase. “The Edmonton Drillers play this level of soccer all the time. We came in here and showed them we are the same caliber. Our next step will be to sit down with the investors and organizers and assess what we did right and wrong and see where we go from there in terms of bringing the franchise here.”
Players Jon Lafontaine and Tyson Von den Steinen stated if the franchise came to Prince George they would definitely try out. Lafontaine said that he could not have asked for a better crowd. “We were down 5-0 and they still kept cheering. Von Den Steinen was not sure what to expect practicing with the team for the past five months. “We got an amazing turn out, Prince George definitely needs something like this for the future.”
Edmonton Driller Interm Coach, Chris Devlin was very impressed with the level of soccer and the fan commitment. “I can really see that this is a tight knit community, I could feel it as soon as I stepped on the field. The PGFC players worked very hard and had a lot of heart and desire, if I had a vote they would be in the league in a heartbeat. We destroyed them in the first quarter and the fans got behind them. I don’t know what Sipho said to the players but they came back with a vengeance.”
Mel Kowalchuk, President of the Canadian Major Indoor Soccer League stated he will recommend Prince George for a franchise as he was very impressed with the entire weekend.
The attendance for today’s game was 1,546.

PGFC really owned the place (after the first quarter).
The only thing that needs a change is the name.
