Prince George, B.C. - Prince George resident and former business owner Bob Semotiuk has generously donated $30,000 worth of equipment to the New Hope Recovery Society at Baldy Hughes.

MLA Lorne Mayencourt  says the New Hope Group was thrilled beyond belief " "The equipment he provided will be used in thecentres work shop, entertainment and living facilities and will expand the accessibility for the whole centre."

Bob Semotiuk was the former president and owner of Canco Hose and Fittings Inc., a Prince George Company that was started in December 1982. The Company was sold in May of 2007. Semotiuk donated his collection of power tools, welding equipment, woodworking equipment and hardware items. His donations also included a big-screen television and surround sound stereo equipment for the center's entertainment facilities.

"Bob phoned us to let us know he had some equipment we might want and that we should come and check it out," said program worker, Gary Kyle. "I couldn't believe it. When we got there and saw the equipment and
learned that it was all being given to us, we were amazed. I've heard of this kind of thing happening, but I have never seen anything so generous."

The New Hope Recovery Society provides treatment and rehabilitation for people with substance abuse problems. They offer guests a personal, medical and legal support network, along with a variety of recovery
programs. Guests also receive life skills training and professional counselling in order to increase their chances of gaining meaningful employment and succeeding in the community upon their release.

Others who have provided generous donations include; Ledcor Construction, Timberwest, Brooke Wade, Ian Reid formerly of Sierra Systems, and several BC Liberal MLA's.

GOD Bless you Bob!!
Wonderful people, all of them! Restorers of faith in mankind. It'll grow from here bigger and better!

Finally, a full and comprehensive approach to substance abuse problems. Now, we might have a chance to make a difference.

Good for everybody who stepped up to support this.
Very nice to see!
Hats off to the guy with the big heart!
A very usefull donation!
A very nice gesture, to be sure.
I have heard good things about that facility even though they have just gotten started. Sadly, it is a service that is badly needed. So, it appears judging by this announcement, that the facility is accepting 'in kind' donations, can anyone confirm that? Further, can anyone advise us here of what material items they could put to work out there?

Canco hose and fittings, the most expensive place around for hydraulic hose and fittings.

Good donation Bob it will go a long way in helping others.
For a short guy he sure stands very tall. I shop at Canco, both stores.
Nice to see all these positive comments after some people were so quick to trash this treatement center when it was first proposed. Also very nice to see such generosity in this fine city.
I have spent a lot of money at canco over the years.
Now i am very glad to see i was supporting a business man of great integrity, and with a huge heart.

Good job Bob.......its the kindness of people like yourself, that makes the days brighter for us all.
Hey guys, he sold the business in 2007.............you can now give your hard earned money direct to new hope, and get a tax return.
Hope they learned a lesson about the legal implications of strip searching.
