Prince George, B.C. - Doug Lundquist, Meteorologist for Environment Canada for the BC interior and the Yukon, says we can look forward to normal to above normal temperature in the final week of April.
The back half of March and the first half of April have been near normal Lundquist says, "The problem has been that the night time lows have been lower than normal and that makes the day time highs hard to achieve."
"We have been in a North West flow for the past few weeks as the atmosphere has been unsettled, that has resulted in cooler temperatures not only in the central interior but all across the southern half of the province. Your region isn’t the only place that has had lower than normal temps."
Environment Canada says normally we are under the influence of a Westerly or southwesterly flow of air, this month we have not had that occurrence. "What happens to you in the central part of the province has been carrying on down to the lower section of the province" says Lunquist.
What can we expect over the next three months? April, May and June are expected to be about normal for this period.
As for global warming the meteorologist says you can’t tell from week to week what affect global warming is having on this part of the province. "The weather patterns have not shed much light on the subject not like the effects of say an el-Niño."
