A Tumbler Ridge resident is facing animal cruelty charges in connection with the investigation of the care of several huskies.
The owner of the animals, voluntarily surrendered the 23 puppies and eleven adult dogs last November.
At the time the animals were given up, BC SPCA Constable Debbie Goodine said there was no evidence the dogs were being fed, the animals were emaciated and the puppies were in poor condition.
The dogs were taken to the Prince George shelter where they were cared for and in most cases, adopted out to good homes. Stacet Lajeunesse of Tumbler Ridge is faing two counts of animal cruelty under the criminal Code of Canad,  and one under the  Preventtion of curelty to Animals Act.
He will  appear  in Court on June 12th.

I think the SPCA in Tumbler Ridge doesn't set a very good example themselves. Its horrible their dog pound they have on the side of the highway up there. Its one of the reasons why some provincial funding for SPCA standards would not be such a bad thing IMO.

Thats said, good on them for catching this guy and hopefully the courts can follow through on it with a stiff sentence. I think people that are cruel to animals (not hunting or farming, but needless ignorant cruelty) are of the same mind set as people that are cruel to people, so therefore I feel they should be punished with equal consideration.
People who think it is ok to starve an animal should be locked up and fed very little for a while, just so they can see how it feels.
(Eagleone...we get up WAY too early!)
:-)
That's the pound on Highway 29 south of TR? I always thought that was private property or something... to be honest, when I saw the story headline, I assumed it would be about those kennels.
Good on the SPCA for ending the mutt's suffering.
Is the SPCA supposed to have hotel like accomodations for the critters they confiscate? Are they supposed to have it built on its own little piece of heaven.
Is there something wrong with it being along side the hwy?
Maybe you would like peoples taxes increased to build "NICE" accomodations for them.
Perhaps you are thinking it would be a good place for peoples pet bears to live.
Could be a good way to lose weight; locked up and fed very little.
metalman.
lostfaith you sound like you have issues with bears....
Eagleone I have issues with people that spread false information about bears, you should be aware of that by now.
