Prince George, B.C. – Carrier Lumber is the latest company to announce production curtailments because of the struggling lumber markets.
Carrier has announced that effective May 5th, it will shut down its sawmill operation in Prince George for at least 5 weeks. The company will also reduce its planer operation to just one shift.
Carrier CEO, Bill Kordyban says the move will remove 25 million board feet of lumber from the market.
The downtime will be used to upgrade the sawmill.
