Enbridge Inc. has already announced Kitimat will be the terminal for its multi-billion dollar pipeline project, but now it is holding a round of public meetings on the proposed 1,200 kilometer line.
Estimated to cost about $3.1 billion dollars, the line is to stretch from Edmonton to Kitimat where the oil will be loaded on to supertankers.
From there, the oil will be shipped to markets in the U.S. or Asia.
The line is expected to pass through Bear Lake, south of Fort St. James, south of Houston, then to Kitimat.
As part of the approval process, Enbridge must show it has given as much information as possible to as many people as possible. The project would still have to undergo a federal environmental assessment which would include public hearings.
Enbridge is hopeful of having the line in place by 2010.
The open house in Prince George will be in room 208 at the Civic Centre, and will run from 5 to 8 tonight.
