Quesnel, B.C. – The automated garbage collection system is being embraced by another B.C. community. Quesnel has approved spending $133,125 plus taxes  for the containers.

What will make the program different for Quesnel residents than the program under way in Prince George is cost.

Those who already have garbage pick up in Quesnel will get a medium sized container at no extra cost. While there will be a premium charged for the large container, that rate has not yet been set. The cost for garbage pick up in Quesnel is currently $72.00 a year.   In Prince George, garbage pick up for that same sized container is currently $138.46 with a price increase expected in July.

Quesnel has purchased 2,250 medium sized containers (245 litres) and 250 large containers, (360 litres)
The Quesnel system is expected to generate savings through reduced time lost because of injuries, thereby reducing workers compensation fees and the elimination of one truck.

The automated system is expected to roll out in Quesnel in the fall.

Did the City of Quesnel tell the residents that it is such a money saving deal that the costs of it won't rise, ever? Generate savings? Ha ha ha ha ha etc. Ya right. What fools!! Both the city hall and the residents. I wish PG could generate savings and fix our potholes.
It's modern, it's trendy, everyone is doing it. waddacrockakrapp.
