The containers are full, but there is more garbage sitting beside each container, ....it is what City Staff call "Over-flow-itis".

Prince George, B.C.- They labelled the problem “overflow- it-is”, simply put, too much garbage for the size of container.
For the month of April, the City of Prince George had an active campaign to raise awareness that some people were just piling too much stuff in the garbage containers. In some cases, extra bags of garbage were piled on top of the grey bins.
The month started with warning notes being issued to offending customers.
Of the 23 thousand garbage container customers in the city, 734 were found to be “overflowing” during the April blitz. “Customers were warned that if the can was over filled again, it would be left behind” says Sean Le Brun of the City’s Waste Management Services Department.   Of the 734 warned, the vast majority of offenders got the message. “We only left behind 21 containers the following week and I didn’t get any phone calls from residents who were upset about that” says Le Brun.
He says the information campaign will continue, “People have been really good about this, there have been only a couple of problem streets but we’re working on it.”

PG needs to get curbside re-cycling pick up like most of the province has...people are way more likely to re-cycle if it is easy to do. Sad, but true...
I second the recycling robichal.
I have found that just recycling the cardboard alone saves so much space in my garbage can. I'm fairly lucky that I live a stones throw away from a recycling bin that is open 24/7 as well.
Wanna send all this particular data to all the folks in Quesnel just to show them what's ahead? Kinda eliminate the surprise factor fer them in the coming years.
The only way fer things to be recycled if there is a buck in it fer someone. Otherwise it's the old taxpayer scam again. More taxes? We don't need them.
