Prince George City Council has voted to give the Community Planning Council $13,500.00 to carry it through to the end of the year, but not everyone on Council is happy about it.

Mayor Kinsley says he approves the move reluctantly, because basically it's a cop out because the tax payers in Prince George are being asked to fund something that was supposed to be covered by federal funding.  Kinsley says if the federal government has made a cmmittment we need to "rattle swords" to ensure the government comes through on those committments.

Councilor Dan Rogers was the first to say this is a case of City taxpayers bailing out the federal  government,  He made a motion (which was passed) that calls for the Community Planning Council to sit down with city staff and sort out what fees  are being  paid for what services, and set some guidelines for increased fiscal managment.

The Community Planning Council  carrys out projects from organizing conferences to  conducting research on a  variety of topics for a variety of clients.
ThePlanning Council originally asked for  $30,000.00, but said it could slice everything back to fit within a $21,000.00 frame,  Council approved $13,500.00

It seemed like somone should have a look at what Murray Krause and friends were up to. So I filled out the membership form for the Community Planning Council and sent in my fee to join. I figuired that if they were fooling around with my town and my tax dollars it would be a good thing to have a little more input.
In about two weeks I recieved a letter from them. Inside was my ckeck and a note saying I would not be accepted as a member. It seems they didn't want anyone tipping over their apple cart. I still can't join and they are still getting my taxes!! I wonder if we could talk them into going on strike?
Sledman, IMO you should be citizen of the week for at least trying.
