Flood Watch Issued for Willow River

Prince George, B.C. - The River Forecast Centre is keeping a watch on the Willow River as the rapid melt has made that river rise. A floodwatch was issued for the Willow  River, and   a High Streamflow Advisory is in effect for the Pine River  in the Chetwynd area.  The water level on the Pine River was rising as a result of snowmelt and rainfall, and may reach a level of concern by late today or Monday.

Flood Watch’s have also been issued for the Nicola River, Coldwater River and Salmon River (all in theThompson River basin). These rivers are all ator above bankfull and will continue rising over the weekend.

The water level on larger mainstem rivers along valley bottoms is now rising. They will continue to riseover the weekend and into early next week.
