1200 block????? ... or 1600 hundred block????

The Coreless House is in the 1200 block.
Is "The Coreless House" special?
Yes, heritage home but it is spelled Corless.
yes, my apologies about the spelling.

If you believe in preserving historic places, then it is special.

The house was built in 1917 and is located at 1276 4th .

Dick Corless and his family lived in it from 1919 to 1947. He was a PG businessman.

Today it is the home of the JJ Springer boutique, one of the few such places downtown.

"The dog saved his master’s life by barking until the elderly resident woke up."

A dog - man's (and woman's) best friend! He deserves a hug and a T-Bone steak!
I thought a diamond was a woman's best friend?
Good dog! I love dogs! Oh and they aren't considered exotic so it's ok to own one.
I guess the Mayor and Council didnt know about the Coreless Place or they would have torn it down. Maybe they still will.
I hear that the mayor's frinde from San Francisco want the city to buy it so that he can tear and down and build a 10 story loft apartment building he will be selling for $350,000 per unit on average. Two on the penthouse floor for $850,000 each.
So what exactly does this corless house have to do with this particular house fire on 4th ave?
That is simple ....

The report says: "RCMP say the house in the 1200 block of 4th Avenue went up in flames before 6:00 this morning."

The Corless house is the only house in that block of 4th.

So, someone goofed, since I do not think that is the house that burned. I suppose I could drive down there to see for myself which one it was.
Pretty simple alright.
But then you are assuming everyone knows what you know about this particular house.
?????? .... I think those people who have been living in PG for a few years and work downtown or sho downtown know which blocks are the 1200 blocks and which are the 1600 blocks.

If they know that, they know that the fire would not have been in the 1200 block since there are no houses there. The one building that was originally a residential house has been a business for decades.

The fact that the story even uses the terminology of 1200 block rather than locating the house along 4th between Quebec and Dominion indicates that the RCMP and the author also expect many/most people to know where the 1200 block is.

I gues that is always the problem, not everyone has the same knowledge. There will be some who will not know where 4th is, I am sure.

As far as the history of the house, that was just brough in because I figured that is that was the building that had burned, the police and author of the piece would have identified it as at least the JJ Springer business.

Are we having fun yet????

Slow news day .....

;-)
I heard it from a friend, who heard it from a friend, who said it was a building on fifth next to the bowling alley.
But, apparently there was a fire somewhere in P.G. early Sunday morning......
