Unemployment Rate Up In P.G.

Prince George, B.C. – There were more people unemployed in Prince George last month than in April. The latest stats idicate the unemployment rate was 8.2% for May,  up from 7.7% in April.
 
The Cariboo region numbers also up, to 7.9% from the April mark of 7.7%
 
Provincially, the unemployment rate moved to 4.5% from 4.3.
 
Nationally, no change, as the rate held steady at 6.1%

An interesting thing on those stats is that the Kootenay area has the lowest unemployment in the province at 2.2%.

Also to remember that this is for EI recipients, doesnt take into account people on welfare, so the rate is actually higher than 8.2%

Wonder what the unemployment rate will look like in May 2010 after the Olympics are over???

Things are booming in the minimum wage areas. Gordo and his corporate buddies like it that way. Once they get their plans all in place then everyone will be working for minimum wage.
