O.K. Everybody Back on the Bandwagon

I happened to have a conversation with Dave Paulson, Editor of the Citizen the other day. The conversation quickly got around to the Cougars because we both have been fans of the club for some time.

He queried as to whether I had been attending games, I replied, No. Not because we are on the drift with the Cougars but rather because I have been very busy for the past few months. He said, “You should make a point to see them Ben, they are a bunch of blue collar hockey players.”
“Blue collar?” I asked.
“Yep, there are no real superstars, just a bunch of guys who are playing their hearts out to try and win as a team.”

So that’s his take on this year’s edition of the Cougars who now sport an 8 and 4 record which is good enough for second place in the BC Division behind Kelowna with a record of 9 and 3.

Now nothing, and I do mean nothing, will get the folks back into the seats faster than the Cougars sitting in first or second place and there is a very real chance they could be.

PA announcer Rob Mitchell says he thinks the team is doing so well because the new coach, Mike Vandekamp has the team believing. He figures that is why they are now in second place.

Quickly, can you remember the last time we talked about a Cougar team being in second place?

That if anything will result in the arena getting more than 2500 people out to the games regardless of whether they call it the Muti Plex or the CN Center .

I’m Meisner and that is one man’s opinion

OK I get to eat a little crow on this one,I was skeptical of the hiring of Mike Vandecamp, and I think I refered to him as a "nobody".Well IMO this guy can coach,he has them playing hard every night, they may not be the most talented team but they definately outwork their opponents every night.Great job so far coach. The other big change that should be mentioned is that they got rid of the white protective netting and the referee's are way better this year.
