Quesnel, B.C. - Opinion250 is still waiting for clarification about two cases of TB reported in BC cattle that were slaughtered in Washington State.

Provincial Ministry of Agriculture says it has been made aware of the matter but referred Opinion250 to the federal communications officer who has yet to return our calls.

This much is known, the cattle in question are two, two year old heifers , one from the Lumby area of the province the other from the Quesnel area.

What position the US Federal government is taking on the matter is not yet known.

It has been rumored that one of the two cows in question may have also been pastured on a community pasture before being shipped south into the USA. This is unconfirmed.

Last year a similar outbreak in the Vanderhoof took place in which an entire herd was destroyed. In that instance, 47 cows, 17 calves, 2 bulls, some goats and a llama were put down. It is alleged that a bull slaughtered in Quebec had come from the Vanderhoof area ranch.

To date not one of the tests on the  destroyed Vanderhoof area animals has shown positive for TB.
