Prince George, B.C. - The court is expected to rule tomorrow on whether Canfor can end it’s contract that called for it to provide the Mackenzie Pulp mill with chips. The pulp mill is in receivership and the receiver has been fighting to keep the contract in place until a new buyer for the mill can be found.

Meantime, the receiver, Price Waterhouse Coopers, was to be back in court today to ask the court to approve the complete shut down of the Harmac pulp mill in Nanaimo. The receiver had been looking at a bid to buy the mill but the receiver doesn’t believe that bid is solid enough.

Instead, the request before the court calls for the closure of the mill,  which will lead to the sale of the property or parts of the mill for other uses. There are four groups interested in the Harmac property.
